How to publish a baby gift guide on Shopify

A finished gift guide belongs on a page shoppers can find, not in a document you never publish. This checklist takes you from prepared copy to a visible Shopify page.

You need access to your store’s Online Store pages and the guide’s text or HTML. These instructions cover Shopify’s desktop editor, not publishing an article inside an Etsy shop.

  1. 1. Prepare one themed edit

Choose one occasion and one gift-buyer, rather than a roundup of everything you sell. A first-birthday keepsake edit needs different choices from a newborn essentials set.

Pick 5–8 products from your own catalog. Put the hero product first, then explain what each supporting item adds to the gift.

Keep the copy in a separate document before opening Shopify. Gather each product’s storefront link, current price and any approved product images.

  2. 2. Create a hidden page

In the desktop Shopify admin, open Online Store → Pages → Add page. Enter your guide’s title and choose Hidden under Visibility while preparing it.

Shopify pages are visible by default after saving, so check that setting before saving a draft. Use a theme name shoppers can understand, not an internal campaign label.

  3. 3. Paste HTML into the code view

In the Content editor, select Show HTML, also called Edit code. Paste your guide’s HTML into that view, then return to the visual editor.

Use the guide’s body HTML, not a complete website document or a Markdown file. Keep the page title in Shopify’s title field; use section headings inside the body.

If you only have plain text, paste it into the visual editor and format headings and links there. Markdown syntax does not become formatted HTML automatically.

Your Shopify theme controls the finished page’s appearance. Review heading sizes, spacing and images instead of assuming the original document’s styling will carry across.

  4. 4. Connect products and check bundle totals

Link each product name to its actual storefront product page. In the visual editor, highlight the name, choose Insert link and enter the URL.

Use product-page links rather than temporary cart or admin links. Open every link in the preview and confirm it leads to the intended item and variant.

Add three bundle paths with clear item lists and totals. Calculate each total from the same variants shown in the guide, using your shop’s currency.

A written bundle path is a shopping suggestion, not an automatic bundle. Do not promise one-click ordering or a discount unless your store actually provides it.

State whether delivery charges are additional. Check stock and personalization requirements before describing an item as ready to ship.

  5. 5. Preview the page before publishing

Save the hidden page and open its preview. Check it on a phone as well as a desktop, especially product images and long product names.

Give images useful descriptions and keep the gift-angle copy readable without them. Remove unsupported safety, certification or sales claims from the guide.

In the search engine listing section, write a page title and description that match the actual edit. Avoid promising a budget ceiling that the featured products exceed.

Verify every displayed price against your store once more. A guide is a snapshot of your catalog, not a live price feed.

  6. 6. Make it visible and add a menu link

When the preview is ready, change Visibility to Visible and save. Then add the page to an appropriate store menu, such as Gifts.

Creating a Shopify page does not automatically add it to a menu. Open your storefront as a visitor and check that the menu reaches the published guide.

You can also link the page from your next customer email. Recheck prices and availability before sharing it again for another occasion.

The publishing instructions, checked

Shopify documents the page workflow in Creating and editing pages. Its rich text editor instructions explain the HTML view and link controls.

The product selection and pre-publication checks above are our editorial recommendations. A published page does not guarantee search traffic or increased sales.
